WWWP HIPAA Companion Documents
WWWP providers who have a signed Trading Partner Agreement
with Medicaid will be allowed to submit HIPAA compliant 837
transactions. Companion documents are intended for information
technology and/or systems staff who will be coding billing systems or
software for compliance with the federal Health Insurance Portability
and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The Companion Documents tell
what elements must be submitted, optional by the national standard but
required by the individual program on the 837 transaction for each
program. These Implementation Guides define the electronic format and
values for each data element within an electronic transaction.
