chart: Age-adjusted Injury-related Mortality Rates, by Sex, Wisconsin, Selected Years 1990-2006
Note: Rates are age-adjusted to the U.S. 2000 standard population.

The 2006 age-adjusted injury-related mortality rate for Wisconsin males was 81 deaths per 100,000 male population. The comparable rate for Wisconsin females in 2006 was 36 deaths per 100,000 females. Rates for both males and females have been relatively unchanged since 1989. A major change in the International Classification of Diseases in 1999 has been shown to increase the number of deaths attributed to injuries by about 3% nationally (see Trend Analysis Caution).
