Glossary of Terms

DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), cable, dial-up: Types of Internet connections - varying in connection types and speeds.

Satellite: A surface that receives and sends transmissions to/from other satellites or antenna systems.

Webcast: A transmission of sound and images via the World Wide Web.

WisLine Web: A service provided by University of Wisconsin Extension Instructional Communications Systems.  Allows for live, interactive meetings and programs on the Internet, using just a browser and speakerphone.

Web conference: A meeting of two or more persons/groups for discussing matters of common concern, using World Wide Web technologies to share information.
