General Information and Data
The Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Control Program is committed to
providing the best available information on effective tobacco prevention
and control programs and
activities. In addition, the program conducts regular surveillance of tobacco
use trends, evaluation of current programs and information sharing
between people and organizations trying to eliminate the death and disease
caused by tobacco use. On this page, you will find information regarding
tobacco use in Wisconsin and the programs and activities that reduce the
burden of tobacco in the state.

- Wisconsin
Youth Tobacco Survey (YTS) was
first adapted for use and administered in Wisconsin during the spring
semester of the 1999-2000 academic year to a random sample of public
middle school students. The survey is conducted on an annual basis for
public middle school students and a biennial basis for public high school
students.
- Burden
of Tobacco Report, 2006 was developed in
partnership by the American Cancer Society, Wisconsin Division of
Public Health within the Department of Health and Family Services, and
the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center's Surveillance and Evaluation
Program. The Burden of Tobacco Report presents information on county
and statewide information detailing the number of deaths from tobacco
use and the costs associated with tobacco-related illnesses and
deaths.

tobacco-related information, statistics and report findings. This edition contains updated
2004 data for adults and 2005 data for youth. Additional tobacco-related information, such as
current trends, program activities and linkages are also available.

The Tobacco Control Resource Center for Wisconsin (TCRCW) is the
centralized source for the latest, most comprehensive and accurate
information on tobacco control and health effects. As part of the
Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Prevention Resources, it is a statewide
resource for contracted service providers, local coalitions, government
officials, student and youth groups, educators, tobacco control advocates,
and the general public.
