Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention & Control Program

Thomas T. Melvin School Grants

Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), in partnership with the Wisconsin Division of Public Health has awarded twenty-five school districts theThomas T. Melvin tobacco grants. These grants enhance and maintain current tobacco control programs which are based on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines for School Health Programs to Prevent Tobacco Use and Addiction. School communities receiving grants must target one or both of the following priority strategies:

  • Youth leadership, peer education, and/or advocacy regarding tobacco prevention and control

  • Youth tobacco cessation and education programs and services targeting tobacco users.
