Community Support
Programs for Persons with Severe and Persistent Mental Illnesses in Wisconsin
Introduction
The Bureau of Prevention, Treatment and Recovery, Division of Mental
Health and Substance Abuse Services, programmatically and fiscally
supports Community Support Programs (CSPs) for persons with severe and
persistent mental illnesses in the community.
A Community Support Program or CSP is a coordinated care and treatment
program which provides a range of treatment, rehabilitation, and support
services through an identified treatment program and staff to ensure
ongoing therapeutic involvement, individualized treatment, rehabilitation,
and support services.
Wisconsin Client Data Summary
The bureau of Prevention, Treatment and Recovery annually collects data
from Community Support Programs (CSP's), and prepares an annual report as
part of the state oversight activities as required in SS. 51.421. The data
follows this summary.
This data should not be read as a presentation of absolute numbers
since it uses point-in-time data. The report indicates the treatment,
services, and limited client trends within these programs, and contains
the most accurate information currently available.
Startup funding is available for counties interested in starting up new
CSP and Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) programs. (see the
memorandum below)
