Other Insurance Reason Code List

The Other Insurance Reason Code list is preloaded with a short list of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-approved adjustment reason codes. This list allows you to enter or modify a list of adjustment reason codes used in claim forms by insurance companies and Medicare. As with other lists, once the code is entered into the list, it may be accessed from drop-down boxes within the claim form screens. To enter other insurance reason codes, follow these steps:

1. Select the Lists option on the menu bar.
2. Select the Other Insurance Reason list.
3. Enter data into all of the required boxes on the screen using the following table as a guide.
   
   

   Other Insurance Reason Code List
   Field	Description
   Other Insurance Reason Code	Enter the one- to three-digit American National Standards Institute (ANSI) code identifying the reason for the adjustment. Refer to the adjustment reason codes in the Lists Appendix for valid codes.
   Description	Enter the adjustment reason code description. The description can be up to 60 characters and spaces.

    

4. Click Save to save the data or New to add a new insurance reason code.
