Supervision of Delegated Tasks

Supervision of delegated tasks by the RN or physician must be provided in accordance with standards of their respective professions. When an RN delegates (or assigns) another person to perform a task, the RN assumes responsibility for the proper performance of that task. The supervising provider is required to document the supervision in the medical record. Refer to the Documentation Requirements chapter of this handbook for documentation requirements of supervising nurses.
