Community-Level Strategies to Prevent Childhood Lead Poisoning

The primary source of lead exposure for children is lead paint, house dust and lead-contaminated soil.  Eliminating childhood lead poisoning will require the elimination of lead paint hazards in housing where young children live.  Effective lead poisoning prevention efforts require community-wide strategies that address the quality and affordability of housing on the local market.
