Physician Office Visit Data
Data Collected under Chapter 153, Wis. Stats.
Until June 2006, the Department of Health Services was charged by Wisconsin
law (
ch. 153, Wis. Stats., and
HFS 120, Wis. Admin. Code) to collect information on physician office visits. The
department designated the Bureau of Health Information and Policy (BHIP) to implement Physician
Office Visit (POV) data collection. The data collected provides information about health care
utilization in Wisconsin for consumers, physicians, policymakers, and others.
POV data collection began in 2002 with the 13 largest physician and medical groups in
the state. This page provides information about data release.
