Health Care Information

Data Collected under Chapter 153, Wis. Stats.

This page offers information relating to the collection, analysis and dissemination of data about physician office visits and a link to the Wisconsin Consumer Guide to Health Care. Physician office visit data were collected by the Department of Health Services until a statutory changed ended the collection as of Quarter 2, 2006.

Data collection activities for hospital inpatients, emergency department visits, ambulatory surgeries, and hospital facilities were transferred by a change in statute to the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA), effective January 1, 2004. Those wishing to purchase hospital inpatient, emergency department visit, ambulatory surgery, or hospital facility data should contact the WHA  Information Center (exit DHS). Wisconsin agencies that need these data for epidemiological or administrative purposes should contact the Bureau of Health Information and Policy.

Elsewhere on the Department’s Web site, other health-related statistics and information about how to obtain copies of vital records are available. You may also wish to consult the Products and Services Catalog (PDF, 232 KB) (revised February 2008) for the Bureau of Health Information and Policy.
