National Safe Kids Campaign. This organization provides resources such as a fact sheets and a resource catalog on bicycle and car seat safety.

National Organizations For Youth Safety  NOYS is a coalition of over 40 national agencies and organizations and youth representatives working to improve safety for our nation's youth who are at high risk for many types of injury and illness (with a current focus on highway safety and drug and alcohol abuse prevention). The coalition is also supporting the Buckle Up America campaign. This site is intended for use by both professionals and teens.

Health and Safety Tips, National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care.  This site provides a broad range of information related to childcare health and safety issues.

Wisconsin Caregiver Program  Wisconsin's Caregiver Law requires background and criminal history checks of certain personnel who are responsible for the care, safety and security of children and adults. The law also requires covered entities to investigate and report incidents of client abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property (caregiver misconduct).

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.  This organization's work includes support for the provision of community-based, non-violent alternatives-such as safe home and shelter programs - for battered women and their children; public education and technical assistance; policy development and innovative legislation; and, efforts to eradicate social conditions which contribute to violence against women and children.

National Sexual Violence Resource Center  The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) is a comprehensive collection and distribution center for information, statistics, and resources related to sexual violence. It serves as a resource for state, territory, and tribal anti-sexual assault coalitions, rape crisis centers, allied organizations, community projects, policy-makers, government entities, media, educators, health care providers and others working to address and eliminate sexual assault.

Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WCADV)  The state coalition provides training, speakers, technical assistance on issues related domestic violence.  It also provides forums for the involvement of battered women and networking and support for programs for battered women and for professionals in related fields.

Network of Employers For Traffic Safety  The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) is the only organization dedicated exclusively to traffic safety in the workplace. Government and industry leaders created the organization in 1989 to address both the human and economic impact of traffic crashes on the nation's workforce.

Health Resources and Services Administration  The Health Resources and Services Administration's mission is to improve and expand access to quality health care for all.

National Emergency Management Association This site is the professional association of and for state emergency management directors. 

National Weather Service  NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts warnings and post-event information for all types of hazards - weather (such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods), natural (such as earthquakes, forest fires, and volcanic activity), technological (such as chemical releases, oil spills, nuclear power plant emergencies, etc.), and national emergencies. Wisconsin EMS for Children (EMSC) Program, Division of Public Health.  This program is a federally funded initiative designed to reduce child and youth disability due to severe illness or injury.

Wisconsin EMS Program, Division of Public Health.  This program provides a state level focal point for leadership, quality assurance, administration, training, coordination and technical assistance to all EMS providers and other components of the system.

National Institute on Aging (NIA).  One of the National Institutes of Health and the principal biomedical research agency of the United States Government. The NIA promotes healthy aging by conducting and supporting biomedical, social, and behavioral research and public education.

National Osteoporosis Foundation.  A voluntary, nonprofit health organization, the NOF is a leading resource for medically sound information on the causes, prevention, and treatment of osteoporosis.

Preventing Falls Among Seniors, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Center for Disease Control and Prevention. This website contains links and information on prevention of falls among seniors.

National Safety Council.  This website is a national source of safety and health information on workplace, highway, community and recreational safety.

U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA). This agency works to heighten awareness among other Federal agencies, organizations, groups, and the public about the contributions that older Americans make to the Nation and to educate them about the needs of older people. The AoA also seeks to educate older people and their caregivers about the benefits and services available to help them.

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.  The federal regulatory agency which protects the public against unreasonable risks of injuries and deaths associated with consumer products.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill  NAMI is a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic and other severe anxiety disorders, autism and pervasive developmental disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and other severe and persistent mental illnesses that affect the brain.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill --WI  Mental illness knows no gender, racial, ethnic, age, or economic boundaries, affecting one out of every five Wisconsin families. NAMI provides crucial information to persons affected by mental illness and their families and serves as their advocate on a state and national level.

Office of the Surgeon General of the United States  The Office is part of the Office of Public Health and Science, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  This site offers a wide variety of information on several health and emergency topics.

Governors Highway Safety Association  The Governors Highway Safety Association is the states voice on highway safety.  The nonprofit organization represents the highway safety programs of states and territories on the human behavior aspects of highway safety.  Such as occupant protection, impaired driving, speed enforcement, motor carriers, school bus, pedestrian and bicycle safety.

Injury Control Resource Network. This is a comprehensive website of injury data, resources, and organizations.

Insurance Institute for Highway Safety  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a nonprofit research and communications organization funded by auto insurers. For over 30 years the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has been a leader in finding out what works and doesn't work to prevent motor vehicle crashes in the first place and reduce injuries in the crashes that still occur. The Institute's research focuses on countermeasures aimed at all three factors in motor vehicle crashes (human, vehicular, and environmental) and on interventions that can occur before, during, and after crashes to reduce losses.

National Safety Council.  This website is a national source of safety and health information including in the workplaces, highways, community and recreational safety expanded now to include all people everywhere.

Rape Abuse & Incest National Network  The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., operates America's only national hotline for survivors of sexual assault. The hotline 1-800.656.HOPE offers free, confidential counseling and support 24 hours a day, from anywhere in the country.

Rape Crisis Center  This Madison based center works with the Dane County community to eliminate sexual violence and victimization, and to enhance self-determination by providing a supportive, healing environment for those affected by the issue of sexual violence

Men can Stop Rape  Men Can Stop Rape (formerly Men's Rape Prevention Project) empowers male youth and the institutions that serve them to work as allies with women in preventing rape and other forms of men's violence. Through awareness-to-action education and community organizing, we promote gender equity and build men's capacity to be strong without being violent.

National Organization On Male Sexual Victimization  NOMSV's aim is to educate about, advocate for, and insure proper treatments available to sexually victimized boys and men. 

National Sexual Violence Resource Center, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR).  This resource center will provide information and technical assistance to support effective interventions in preventing sexual violence.

Rape Fact Sheet, Family and Intimate Violence Prevention Team, Center for Disease Control and Prevention.  This fact sheet describes prevalence and incidence, risk factors, consequences, and   primary prevention programs.

Speaking Out Against Rape (SOAR)  SOAR (Speaking Out About Rape, Inc.) is a nonprofit organization which offers presentations on rape awareness to colleges, universities, civic organizations, law enforcement, and other interest groups. The focus of the presentation is on the emotional trauma after rape rather than the actual act of rape itself. SOAR speaks about HIV, STD's, pregnancy, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and the importance of counseling. SOAR addresses the issues of secondary victims - the family, friends, significant others, neighbors and co-workers. The importance of reporting the crime, seeking medical attention, and protecting yourself are included as well.

Stop It Now  Stop It Now!'s mission is to call on all abusers and potential abusers to stop and seek help, to educate adults about the ways to stop sexual abuse, and to increase public awareness of the trauma of child sexual abuse.

Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault (WCASA) Resources.  This organization provides a comprehensive resource library which contains books, journals, videos on all aspects of sexual violence prevention, intervention, and treatment, training, publications, and education materials.

SUICIDE

Wisconsin Teen Suicide, Fact Sheet Series - No. 1, August 2006.  The Wisconsin Division of Public Health has released a teen suicide fact sheet which highlights the suicide statistics and shows the need for suicide prevention initiatives.

Wisconsin Suicide Prevention Strategy (PDF, 160 KB)  Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services action plan to prevent and reduce suicides in Wisconsin.

American Academy of Suicidology,  This website is dedicated to the understanding and prevention of suicide.

American Foundation of Suicide Prevention,  This website is dedicated to advancing our knowledge of suicide and the ability to prevent it.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  This program is used to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability.

Division of Violence Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Center for Disease Control and Prevention.   This prevention program encompasses surveillance, research, evaluation, and training on youth violence, family & intimate violence, suicide, firearm injuries.

Hopes  Helping others through education and advocacy for suicide prevention.

National Strategy for Suicide Prevention    The National Mental Health Information Center was developed for users of mental health services and their families, the general public, policy makers, providers, and the media.

Office of the Surgeon General of the United States  The Office is part of the Office of Public Health and Science, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  This site offers a wide variety of information on several health and emergency topics.

Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) Save is designed  to educate about suicide prevention, eliminate stigma and support those touched by suicide.

Suicide and Suicide Prevention  This web site is a complete site that helps with every aspect of suicide and suicide prevention.

Suicide Prevention Advocacy Network (SPAN)  The Suicide Prevention Action Network USA is a non-profit national organization that links the energy of those bereaved or touched by suicide with the expertise of leaders in science, health, business, government and public service to achieve the goal of significantly reducing the national rate of suicide by the year 2010.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  This program is used to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability.

Center for Injury Control Resource Information Network, University of Pennsylvania.  This is a comprehensive website of injury data, resources, and organizations.

Home Safety Tips, Bureau of Environmental Health, Division of Public Health. This website provides prevention information related to the home including electrical and fire safety, poison prevention, crime prevention, and unintentional injury prevention.

Injury Control Resource Network. This is a comprehensive website of injury data, resources, and organizations.

Injury Prevention Web, a service of the Center for Injury Prevention Policy & Practice and the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Directors' Association.  This website includes injury contacts, books, organizations, data (includes charts of injury mortality trends for every state), etc.

National Library of Medicine MEDLINE Literature Database. This website is searchable database of published articles in selected mainstream medical journals. Database can be queried to find relevant injury data, interventions, etc.

National Safety Council. This website is a source of safety and health information including in the workplaces, highways, community and recreational safety.

National Injury and Violence Prevention Resource Center, The Children's Safety Network (CSN).  This organization provides resources and technical assistance to maternal and child health agencies and other organizations seeking to reduce unintentional injuries and violence to children and adolescents.

SAFE KIDS   The National SAFE KIDS Campaign is the first and only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to prevention of unintentional childhood injury - the number one killer of children ages 14 and under.

National Electronic Network On Violence Against Women  This website is used to harness electronic communication technology as a resource for those working to end violence of any kind against women. In order to accomplish this goal, VAWnet staff and consultants collect, analyze, prepare and electronically disseminate information and materials on domestic violence, sexual assault, and related issues via VAWnet's web site and facilitated listserv discussions.

National Injury and Violence Prevention Resource Center, The Children's Safety Network (CSN).  This organization provides resources and technical assistance to maternal and child health agencies and other organizations seeking to reduce unintentional injuries and violence to children and adolescents.

National Violence Against Women Prevention Research Center  Both this website and the NVAWPRC are sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We have designed this website to be useful to scientists, practitioners, advocates, grassroots organizations, and any other professional or lay person interested in current topics related to violence against women and its prevention. Wisconsin Anti Violence Effort (WAVE) Through research, education and advocacy WAVE raises awareness about firearm violence throughout the state, provides up to the date information to the public and policy makers and promotes common sense measures that will bring our state to the forefront of gun violence protection.

Violence Against Women and Family Violence Research  The mission of the Violence Against Women and Family Violence Research and Evaluation program is to promote the safety of women and family members, and to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the criminal justice system's response to these crimes.
