Health Insurance and Benefits for 
Wisconsin Veterans

  • The Veterans Health Administration has information on health benefits that may be available to you.
  • TRICARE is a health plan run by the US Department of Defense and is available to current and former service members and their families.
  • CHAMPVA is a health care benefits program run by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the dependents of veterans who are not eligible for TRICARE. It is available to spouses, widows/widowers, and children of veterans who have been killed or permanently disabled due to a service-related incident while on active duty. 
  • The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs offers health care grants of up to $7,500 to qualified veterans.
  • The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs also has information on financing the cost of care at the Wisconsin Veterans Home.
