Questions and Answers about Doctors

How can I find a doctor anywhere in the United States?
The American Medical Association's AMA DoctorFinder, an online doctor finder, provides information on nearly every licensed doctor in the country.

Is my doctor certified in internal medicine?
Find out with the American Board of Internal Medicine database.

What about doctors with other specialties?
Find out with the American Board of Medical Specialties database. There is no charge to use this site; however, you will be required to register prior to conducting your first search.

How can I check a doctor's license status, or find out if there are complaints pending against him or her?
Contact the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing or call (608) 266-2112.

Does my doctor participate in Medicare?
Find out with the Wisconsin Physicians Service database. You can use the database to locate participating physicians by city or county.  Individual physicians may be listed under the name of their medical group rather than by physician name.

Where else can I go for more information on Wisconsin doctors?
Although it's not specifically for consumers, there's the site for the Wisconsin Medical Society. The Society is a non-profit, professional organization that represents many member doctors, residents, and medical school students in Wisconsin.
