CARES "moves" are updates or fixes to the CARES system. Each month, this page will include the moves that will have the greatest impact on CARES users. CARES moves are generally made each month on the Friday after adverse action. Move dates are planned in advance, however, for a variety of reasons, decisions may sometimes be made to delay or change move dates. This page will be updated monthly with the best information available.

  1. MA Interest Income: Most interest and dividend income will be excluded for EBD Medicaid eligibility and post-eligibility determinations effective July 01, 2005.  The worker will make the decision to count or exclude the income and use one of two new types of interest; one for Family MA and one for EBD MA.  Please look for an operations memo describing these CARES and policy changes.

  1. MA Review Date Problems

Review dates were being set incorrectly in cases where there was backdated eligibility.   Previously, if there was a backdate certified, the review date was set from the month of the backdated eligibility. Now the review date will be set from the initial month of current eligibility.

The problem where MAPP was not being created in CARES because some other type of MA was failing in the cascade before MAPP is being fixed.  Usually this was related to NS failing for some reason (ie:  077, 272).  Now, the cascade will move on to build the MAPP category.
