December 2005 CARES Updates

| CARES
"moves" are updates or fixes to the CARES system.
Each month, this page will include the moves that will have
the greatest impact on CARES users. CARES moves are
generally made each month on the Friday after adverse
action. Move dates are planned in advance, however, for a
variety of reasons, decisions may sometimes be made to delay
or change move dates. This page will be updated monthly with
the best information available. |

- AIWS/Work Programs Sanctions.
Sometimes, when a person was sanctioned from FSET for not
cooperating, CARES will incorrectly issue FoodShare benefits for
that person without a re-request date on AIWS/WP Sanctions page.
CARES will be fixed to continue to sanction a person from
FS for not cooperating until a re request date is entered to
comply with policy.

- Some cases fail in the first month for reason 557
incorrectly (usually when they apply towards the end of the
month) and because of this failure, expedited FS won’t issue
in the second month,
instead they will pend.
If the FS group fails in the first month for reason 557,
the group should be entitled to expedited FS for the second
month. CARES will be
fixed to support
this policy.

- As a follow up to the July changes made
to logic for setting Medicaid review dates, MA policy area has
redefined this process and the logic will be reverted back to
the way it was prior to 7/2005. The only change that will remain
in effect is for
backdated months. Backdated months will be ignored when
calculating the review date for MA.
