ACCESS:  Your Key to Health, Nutrition and Other Programs

Project overview and contact information

DHS secured a grant to develop and implement Internet-based tools that directly connect low-income consumers with health and nutrition benefits. These tools are designed to increase participation in FoodShare Wisconsin and other benefits programs.

Wisconsin residents can use the ACCESS web site to:

  • See if they might be able to enroll in FoodShare, Medicaid, BadgerCare Plus (including Family Planning Services), SeniorCare and  other prescription drug assistance programs, WIC, school meals, summer food programs, emergency food assistance and state and federal tax credits (August 2004).

  • Get personalized information about their current FoodShare or Medicaid benefits (September 2005).

  • Apply online for FoodShare, Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus (including Family Planning Services) (June 2006)

  • Report household or income changes online to the local county or tribal agency (September 2006)
