DSL INFO MEMO 2000-14DCFS INFO MEMO 2000 -15December 5, 2000 STATE OF WISCONSIN To: From: Susan N. Dreyfus, Administrator Re: Our Divisions have been requested to remind agencies employing certified social workers that notification procedures exist when disciplinary action is taken against an individual holding such certification. According to the Social Worker Section of the Examining Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors, s. 457.25(1), Stats., requires that an entity that terminates, suspends or restricts the employment of social work certificate holders must notify the Social Worker Section. According to the Chair of the Social Work Section, some counties are prompt in reporting such disciplinary actions while other counties have not been so prompt. Please note that within 30 days after the disciplinary action is taken, the agency must notify the Social Worker Section of the action taken. Please assure that this requirement is met so that the intent of the statutes in assuring the best interests of children and families is achieved.
