Radioactive Materials

Section 254.365 of the Wisconsin Statutes requires that any person who possesses, uses, manufactures, transports, stores or transfers radioactive materials in Wisconsin must have a radioactive materials license.  Effective August 11, 2003, the Department of Health and Family Services licenses and inspects byproduct, source, special nuclear, naturally-occurring and accelerator-produced radioactive materials in Wisconsin (unless exempted).

Chapter HFS 157 (PDF, 717 kb), WI Administrative Code details the licensing requirements and fees.  HFS 157 is divided into 15 subchapters.  The following is a list of HFS 157 subchapters relating to the regulation of Radioactive Materials.
