About Disability Determination Programs and ServicesIn accordance with federal Social Security Administration regulations, the Wisconsin Division of Health Care Access and Accountibility, Disability Determination Bureau (DDB), determines if Wisconsin residents applying for disability benefits meet the criteria for any of the following. Social Security Disability (Title II) Wisconsin Disability Determination Accomplishments for 2000Expedited Payments for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Applicants with Disabilities If it appears to be highly likely that an SSI applicant’s disability claim will be allowed, DDB can authorize an early start for disability benefits and Medicaid coverage, while DDB is still completing their development of the claim. During 2000, 16.3% of SSI allowances were expedited in this manner, up from 12.9% during 1999. Service on New Claims During 2000, 33,745 new disability claims were processed by DDB.
