Family Planning Services

Q: Will there be confidentiality for those seeking Family Planning services including minors?
A: Yes. Minors may apply for FPS independently, and the information is not shared with parents or guardians without their consent.

From the Handbook:
40.11 CONFIDENTIALITY: Women applying for or receiving FPS benefits will have all of the confidentiality protections as other BC+ applicants, as well as the following additional confidentiality protections:

  1. If requested, member can have written communication sent to an alternate address instead of her home address.
  2. Minors are not referred to child support.
Eligibility information regarding minors who apply independently for FPS is kept confidential from parents or guardians, unless the member gives clear consent for release of the information.

Q: Does BC + cover contraceptives and how does it interface with Family Planning Waiver?
A: Both the Standard and Benchmark Plan of BadgerCare Plus offer full coverage of reproductive health services, excluding infertility treatments, surrogate parenting, and the reversal of voluntary sterilization. Contraceptive services are available without a co-payment.

Women age 15 to 44 seeking contraception who are not eligible for BC+ Standard or Benchmark Plans, may be eligible for Family Planning Services (FPS) benefits. The Family Planning Services program covers the cost of most contraception. A woman can apply for family planning services online at http://access.wi.gov
