Be a community partner
The Department of Health and Family Services is seeking interested community-based organizations
across Wisconsin to provide direct application assistance to those in need of health insurance. This network
will build effective partnerships with local county/tribal agencies to increase enrollment in BadgerCare Plus and to educate those who can enroll about the benefits of the program.
Learn more about the BadgerCare Plus program by viewing our web
cast training for community partners.
There are many ways that you can help in the effort to insure
more families in Wisconsin:
- Sign up to help children and pregnant women get express enrollment in BadgerCare
Plus. Express enrollment will be
available on February 1, 2008. View
training materials about ACCESS for Partners and Providers.

- Share information with your clients! How
to order posters and brochures.
- Register as a community access point to stay informed and
involved. Get instructions here.
- Help to educate people about changes to the program. It is now easier for people to apply for BadgerCare Plus.
People who apply no longer have to get verification of health insurance from their employer.
The Department of Health and Family Services will gather this information on behalf of the applicant.
Applicants will still need to provide verification of their employment and income.
- Help your customers stay healthy by providing them with brochures and information
about what they can do for their health. We also ask that you
provide the Health
Needs Assessment Survey.
To become a community partner, contact Jeff Burkhart burkhjj@dhfs.state.wi.us; phone 608-266-7239.
Community partners interested in providing application assistance
can learn about Express Enrollment
using ACCESS. This will enable community agencies to temporarily enroll qualifying children
in BadgerCare Plus.
You can help people apply on-line via ACCESS at access.wi.gov. There are four tools on ACCESS that you can use to:
- Help people to apply,
- See if they are eligible,
- Check the status of their benefits, and
- Report their changes.
