Certification
Performance of Asbestos Investigation and Abatement

The Asbestos and Lead Section (A&LS), in the Department of Health Services, administers the certification (licensure) required to perform asbestos activities in Wisconsin.  The certification process begins after an individual has completed a training course from a certified training provider.  The State of Wisconsin website or the Asbestos Certification Table (PDF, 12 KB) created by the A&LS lists the required course(s), fees, and additional requirements.  A&LS offers individual certification, which requires completion of a Certification Application - Individual.  A Certification Application - Individual requires submittal of acceptable photo identification (Contact A&LS for a description of what qualifies as acceptable photo identification).

Once a completed application is submitted to A&LS, it will be processed in 10 working days.  Applications are processed in the order they are received.  Hand delivered applications will not be processed at that time. Incomplete application materials will not be processed.

Additional information is available on the State of Wisconsin website

The State of Wisconsin web site provides additional information.  Links to the information are provided here, and have been separated into 3 categories, based upon the type of certification sought:
