Wisconsin's Turning Point Initiative

The Wisconsin Turning Point Initiative is a statewide policy and planning process to transform Wisconsin's public health system for the 21st century.  A chief product of this initiative is the publication of the state health plan as required of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services by s. 250.07, Wisconsin Statutes.

Turning Point is a collaborative effort between government, the public, private, nonprofit, and voluntary sectors in partnership with Wisconsin residents. Through Turning Point, the public health system is being modernized and revitalized to address current and emerging 21st century health and environmental issues.

Besides generating the state health plan for the decade 2000-2010, Turning Point is also supporting these efforts:

  • Policy changes to support a sustainable transformation for the future;
  • An implementation plan that is the companion document to the state health plan; and
  • A stakeholders report that addresses how Wisconsin's public health system should engage and sustain partnerships with special population groups and our communities of color in the transformation of the public health system.
