Visits Eau Claire BadgerCare Plus Enrollment Fair
April 28th to May 2nd is Cover the Uninsured Week
EAU CLAIRE - Today, Secretary Karen Timberlake visited a one-day
BadgerCare Plus enrollment fair that was held at the Eau Claire
City-County Health Department and met with a pregnant woman that has
recently signed up for BadgerCare Plus. The one-day enrollment fair was
organized as part of Cover the Uninsured Week. BadgerCare Plus is Governor
Doyle’s program that provides access to quality, affordable health
insurance for working families.
“BadgerCare Plus makes providing access to comprehensive health care
for all kids achievable,” said Secretary Karen Timberlake. “BadgerCare
Plus is simple and provides health care coverage that our children deserve
at a price families can afford. I strongly encourage any Wisconsin family
that does not have health insurance to find out more information about
BadgerCare Plus by visiting www.BadgerCarePlus.org,
calling 1-800-362-3002 or contacting their local county or tribal human
services agency.”
BadgerCare Plus offers health coverage to every uninsured child in
Wisconsin by streamlining Medicaid, BadgerCare and Healthy Start into one
comprehensive program. Regardless of a family’s income, BadgerCare Plus
allows every uninsured Wisconsin family access to affordable,
comprehensive health care coverage for their kids. Low income families
will be able to enroll their children into BadgerCare Plus at no charge,
while higher earning families will be able to buy into the program at a
reasonable cost based upon income.
Families were able to go to four different locations in Eau Claire
County to get help signing up for BadgerCare Plus. Enrollment fairs were
held at the Eau Claire City-County Health Department, Valleybrook Church,
Catholic Charities, and the Augusta Memorial Public Library in Augusta.
On an ongoing basis, Eau Claire families can apply for BadgerCare Plus
online at www.BadgerCarePlus.org
