SECRETARY-DESIGNEE BICHA MEETS WITH BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB
OF LANGLADE COUNTY
Bicha discusses Governor Jim Doyle’s Grow Wisconsin Initiative
MADISON - Reggie Bicha, Secretary-Designee of the new Department of
Children and Families met with local community members at the Boys and
Girls Club of Langlade County on Thursday, February 7, 2008. Bicha
discussed Governor Jim Doyle's Grow Wisconsin initiative and the new
Department of Children and Families.
"Governor Doyle's commitment to improving the quality of life for
Wisconsin citizens is so apparent in these two great initiatives,"
said Reggie Bicha, Secretary-Designee of the Department of Children and
Families. "The Grow Wisconsin Initiative will build upon Wisconsin's
expanding economy by fostering innovation, seizing energy opportunities,
making health care affordable for all families, and investing in quality
education. At the same time we are ensuring vibrant Wisconsin communities,
we will work to keep children safe and healthy in strong families through
the new Department of Children and Families."
The Grow Wisconsin initiative highlights efforts to keep Wisconsin at
the forefront of the changing global market, increase the availability of
renewable fuel, improve access to affordable health care coverage, and
improve the quality and affordability of education.
In July 2008, the newly created Department of Children and Families
will combine child welfare, child support, child care services and the W-2
program into a new, freestanding agency. The department will be the first
Cabinet agency devoted exclusively to shaping the future of children in
Wisconsin.
