Recreational Equipment Mini Grants

Purpose:

These grants are intended to improve recreational opportunities for Wisconsin residents of all ages with disabilities. 

Who Can Apply:

Applications are encouraged from any agency, program, or group that is currently operating, or intends to operate, a recreational program/service for persons with disabilities.  The agency or program can be a non-profit, or for-profit. Municipalities, school districts, support groups, Independent Living Centers, etc are encouraged to apply.  Applications will be reviewed and approved on the basis of the ability of the applicant to expand opportunities and reach new consumers. 

Eligible Recreation Equipment:

Equipment to be purchased needs to be for recreational purposes.  The items can be specifically adapted/manufactured for a disability group, or equipment that is not specifically adapted, but will be used to accommodate persons with disabilities in a recreational activity.  Equipment must not be intended for one individual, but for a number of individuals to experience recreational activities.  Examples of eligible equipment requests include modified and non- modified skis, tandem bicycles and carts, adapted toys, adapted cycles, kayaks, canoes, etc. Grants will be awarded for a maximum of $3,000 per application.

Reporting Requirements:

Programs that receive grants will be required to report data annually, for a period of 3 years on the number of individuals who use the equipment, the type of disability being served, and a brief narrative on their program.

Application:

Applicants must follow the required format (Word, 22 KB) for this grant application. The Summary of Applicant Organization (Word, 31.5 KB) and the Program/Project Budget (Word, 31 KB) should be completed and returned as indicated on the application.

Application Deadline:

Complete applications must be submitted by close of business on Friday, May 30, 2008.  Applications can be submitted via US Mail (postmarked 5/30/08), fax or email.
