Brief Profiles of Selected
Physical Disabilities

When you see the term "physical disability," you might think of a person with a spinal cord injury or a person with an amputation. This fact sheet briefly describes several other conditions that also are recognized as physical disabilities.

This edition of the Physical Disability FILE was prepared by Kimberly Schindler in 1998. It was updated in 2004 with new data from the Wisconsin Division of Public Health.
