Needs Assessment
In 2005, the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and
Children/Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSCHN) statewide needs assessment
was conducted for the period 2006 - 2010.
The federal
funding agency, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health
Resources and Services Administration, requires that a statewide MCH/CYSCHN needs
assessment be conducted every five years for two main purposes: 1) in order to receive federal funds,
and 2) to help states make the most appropriate program and policy decisions
that promote the health of women, children, adolescents, CYSHCN and their
families.
